We are now at Clark Equestrian Center!
In August 2024, we moved EVERYONE to Clark Equestrian. This gorgeous facility allows us to expand our programs immensely. Thank you to Scott and Laura Clark for opening your hearts and doors to Beautiful Brokenness!

Our team is made up of Katy Pistole and a small group of volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we serve. Our Impact
Beautiful Brokenness won the 2023 Louisa County Impact Award for New Life Horsemanship, our online Equine Assisted Discipleship course. We serve more than 225 individuals annually through a variety of programs and materials. Beautiful Brokenness has been featured in multiple national publications and won numerous awards. Why "Beautiful" Brokenness?
Broken (adjective)
- reduced to fragments; fragmented
- ruptured; torn; fractured
- not functioning properly
Brokenness is not a term found in the Bible, but I hear believers talk about brokenness often. The definitions of brokenness vary depending upon our understanding of the word. I spent years believing that God was out to "break" me - no matter what I wanted. This made me feel afraid when painful events occurred, and I would get busy trying to figure out how to make God stop the pressure. How could I do better? How could I be more pleasing, obedient, useful?
No wonder I was afraid!
What if Jesus has BROKEN the law of sin and death? What if God is committed to revealing His heart, His perfect provision, His sufficiency in ALL things?
What if Romans 8:1,2 are true?
I believe Romans is true. As is the rest of the Bible.

Beautiful Brokenness is about Jesus. One of Jesus' favorite teaching methods is metaphor. He loves to use His Creation as a bridge leading His people directly to His heart. Animals are precious to God. He values them so much that their blood became the payment for Mankind's sin until the Lamb of God came to take away sin once and for all. Horses help me trust Jesus and His heart for me. I hope this will change the way you see Life!
